Home Visits

Home VisitsAs transport becomes more readily available to more of our patients, and our desire to be responsive to your needs has sharpened, we are approaching a situation where home visits are seldom needed. Some patients have been known to have home visits on the same day as a relative takes them to the hairdresser! Many small children can easily and safely be brought to the Surgery by car to see the Doctor and be back home again in a very short time. Only the chronically ill, housebound patients really need home visits in this modern age.

In the interest of building good relations with your Doctor, we would therefore urge you to take note of these observations - which are shared by Doctors throughout the country.

If a home visit is absolutely unavoidable, please give some consideration to the timing of your request. In the section on ‘Minor Illnesses’ an indication has been given on how long you can reasonably treat some of the common illnesses yourself. Please bear in mind that it makes the organisation and function of our Practice team so much easier if requests for unavoidable home visits are made between 8.30a.m. and 10.00a.m. The Practice staff will ask you for some details so the Doctor can visit the most urgent patients first, and will know if he/she needs any special equipment.
