Collection from the surgery of paper prescriptions is strongly discouraged due to coronavirus risk
Prescriptions can also be collected directly from your nominated pharmacy
1. Through the Electronic Prescription Service set
up at your nominated pharmacy, whereby the
script will be sent electronically to the pharmacy as soon as it is authorised by the doctor (will often be quicker than the usual delivery service that has set times during which they collect prescriptions from the surgery). Virtually all our local pharmacies are capable of using the Electronic Prescription Service.
2. Through courier delivery of the prescription to the pharmacy (usually once a day)
Please speak to a member of reception team for details of this either services. Alternatively, we are happy to post your prescriptions to you if you supply a stamped addressed envelope. We regret that we are unable to accept telephone requests for prescriptions.

Please allow 72 hours, excluding weekends and Bank Holidays, for your request to be processed. Any problems please telephone the surgery.
Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs). The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.
If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.

Why not nominate your local pharmacy to take advantage of the new Electronic Prescription Service
If you decide to activate it, your repeat prescriptions will get automatically sent electronically to your nominated pharmacy of choice as soon as they are signed off by the doctor, potentially saving a significant amount of time and providing peace of mind. A lot of pharmacies only collect paper prescriptions from us daily at most and a few less local ones do not collect at all, risking prescriptions getting delayed or mislaid in the post.
You can change or remove your nomination at any time, making it particularly flexible if for example you ended up being away from home for a period of time. You can also request a paper copy of your prescription at any point.
Prescriptions that you have already arranged to be delivered to your chemist will be automatically sent electronically (if he/she supports the service) to improve speed and accuracy of transfer. If you wish to opt out, please contact Reception

Pharmacies will not have access to any additional personal data than is already held on their system and paper prescriptions and the prescriptions are sent using NHS specific secure connections. Also there is a capacity for us to add printed notes to the counterfoils, explaining more clearly when and why items may be due review. If you need an up to date repeat card to remind yourself regarding medication to order, you can request that from your local pharmacy at any time.
You can nominate your local pharmacy in several ways- either through requesting when in surgery or through asking your pharmacy direct, and it will only take you a matter of minutes to do so. Nominate now to make sure you can take advantage of the service as soon as it goes live.
If you have an existing Repeat Dispensing arrangement with your pharmacy (e.g. when batches of scripts for weekly blisters are printed and sent to the pharmacy in advance) please note when each batch is issued a paper token still needs to be transferred to the pharmacy in the usual way. However the individual prescriptions can be sent electronically and also partially cancelled/adjusted after issue making electronic repeat dispensing far more flexible that the fully paper process. This means that the number of times a year a batch needs to be issued is likely to be less, saving yourself, the pharmacy and the doctor significant time. Controlled drugs can now be sent electronically.
